Harvey joins Lib-Dem front bench
North Devon MP Nick Harvey has joined
the Liberal Democrat front bench as defence spokesman.
Leader Sir Menzies Campbell announced
the appointment on Wednesday. Falmouth MP Julia Goldsworthy is shadowing
the Chief Secretary to the Treasury.
However, St Ives MP Andrew George has lost
his position on international development.
Truro and St Austell MP Matthew Taylor
said he was offered a post but turned it down to stand as deputy
leader.
Commenting on his new position Mr Harvey
said: "I am delighted with this portfolio and relish the challenge.
"
We now have a bright new team of MPs on
the frontbench and I look forward to working with colleagues towards
a great future for the Liberal Democrats."
Matthew Taylor, the most experienced Lib
Dem MP in the South West, has revealed he will be standing for election
as deputy leader in the next month.
